CORT/ABA Basic Custody Institute

Description

CORT has partnered with the ABA Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence in presenting its virtual Trial Skills Institute via zoom June 3-5, 2024.

The virtual Trial Skills Institute builds the litigation skills of attorneys who represent survivors of intimate partner violence in contested hearings and trials. Working from a hypothetical fact pattern, participants perform opening statements, closing arguments, direct and cross examinations, evidentiary foundations, and impeachment in a series of online modules, and get immediate feedback and constructive critique from expert faculty. Participants can improve other skills, including case strategizing, verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, thinking quickly on their feet, and overcoming objections and other courtroom challenges. As a result of participating in this virtual Institute, attorneys will gain confidence and improve their abilities to effectively represent their clients in order of protection and other family law cases.  The Agenda is attached.
